Monument Valley is much more than the 17 mile loop to view grand
vistas from your car.
It is a living, breathing place with people, culture, and history. If you slow down, you can discover an intimate side to the valley.
I found myself doing just that because, as a photographer, visiting the large landscapes can be overwhelming. The daytime hours outside of monsoon season can be, as we say, boring to shoot with the harsh sun washing out your images.
On my last day I was previewing my photos from the trip in my tent, and I found a pattern of intimate shots that began telling a story of the valley.
